PerformanceAcademy

PerformanceAcademy at TheGifted Arts is a space for young artists who are ready to move with intention, rise with discipline, and perform with purpose. This advanced training program is designed for students who demonstrate technical commitment and personal readiness to explore their artistry at a deeper level.

Students in this program are not only skilled in movement, music, and performance—they are leaders in their own growth. They bring high energy, strong presence, and the desire to challenge themselves in community with others.

  • Evaluation and Growth

PerformanceAcademy follows a six-unit curriculum that builds throughout the season. Artists are assessed twice yearly—once during fall auditions and again at the end of the season.

    The evaluation rubric considers:

    Clarity and retention

    Energy and stage presence

    Audience engagement

    Professionalism and growth mindset

These evaluations provide measurable feedback and affirm each artist’s development over time.

Performance Opportunities

PerformanceAcademy artists are featured in 8 to 10 appearances throughout the season, including:

  • Community-based showcases

  • Cultural celebrations such as MLK Dreamfest and Juneteenth

  • Regional competitions

  • Black History Month programs

Performance season runs from September through March. Students may also be selected for solos, trios, or ensemble features based on readiness and rehearsal commitment.

Parent Partnership

Family involvement is essential. Parents play a vital role in the success of the program by supporting behind the scenes and in community. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with costume care

  • Coordinating snacks and hydration

  • Supporting carpooling efforts

  • Participating in fundraising and event planning

Together, we create a culture of care, consistency, and excellence that supports our young artists to thrive.
